The workers’ compensation system in Colorado is an administrative system, not a court system. Workers’ compensation claims are administered by the Division of Workers’ Compensation in the Colorado State Department of Labor and Employment. The head of the Division of Worker’s Compensation is the Director. Paul Tauriello is the current Director of the Division of Worker’s Compensation. If there are disputed issues in your case, your case will go to a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge, not to a county or district court judge or jury. The only non-administrative courts involved in this system are the Colorado Court of Appeals and the Colorado Supreme Court, and then only if your case is first appealed to the Industrial Claims Appeals Panel, an administrative court. See Section 8-43-301(6).
