When an Administrative Law Judge says they have jurisdiction of the case, it means that they have the power to decide issues and render decisions which are binding on all the parties. Administrative Law Judges at the Division of Workers’ Compensation have jurisdiction to decide a wide variety of issues pertaining to a workers’ compensation claim. However, Administrative Law Judges have no jurisdiction to order an employer to take claimant back to work, to pay more money for wages, to promote the claimant, or to give the claimant better non-workers’ compensation benefits.
