A claimant must report their injury in writing with four (4) days of when they are injured. If they do not report it in writing they can be docked up to one (1) day’s compensation for every day they fail to report the injury in writing. See Section 8-43-102 (1)(a), C.R,S.). In order for a claimant to be docked any compensation, the employer must have posted a sign in the prominent place in the work place that must be a minimum height of 14 inches and a width of 11 inches. Each letter must be a minimum of ½ inch in height. The sign must read as follows:
WARNING: IF INJURED ON THE JOB, WRITTEN NOTICE MUST BE GIVEN TO YOUR EMPLOYER WITHIN FOUR (4) WORKING DAYS OF THE ACCIDENT, PURSUANT TO (SECTION 8-43-102(1.8), C.R.S.).
